Methi (Fenugreek) Bherji & Chicken
Pic cred: Ruhana Ebrahim Rec cred: @mama_taught_me_well Ingredients: 2 large bunches Methi (Fenugreek) bherji (or 12 small) ½ - 1kg chicken fillet (large cubes or chicken pieces) 1 large onion (sliced) 2 tablespoon oil 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon dhana jeeroo powder ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon chilli powder ½ - 1 tablespoon red ginger garlic masala 1 cup frozen peas 2 tomatoes (liquidized) Water (as needed) Method: 1. Braise onion in oil, add spices and chillies. 2. Add washed and drained chicken, cook halfway. 3. Add tomatoes, bherji and peas. Cook till tomato has reduced. 4. Add water as needed and cook till chicken done and no liquid remains. 5. Serve with roti or bread. Note: I wash and clean Methi (Fenugreek) bherji. Then freeze in a packet. Then I knock with a rolling pin when it's properly frozen to get the Methi (Fenugreek) bherji fine and add when needed to pot. BACK TO RECIPElb / pounds |
