Crispy base recipe adapted from @_varnikasingh and it was perfect- a light and crispy base that melted in your mouth
For the shortbreadI used 250g @woolworths_sa butter½ cup castor sugarBeat till creamyI added 2 ¼ cups of sifted flourMix this till it’s a soft but not sticky doughPress into a panUse a fork to poke holes in itAnd then baked it on 160 for 30-35 minutes the base had a beautiful golden glow Now while it’s baking make your nutty sauce...In a frying panAdd abt 30 -40 grams of butter½ cup of sugar3 tablespoons golden syrup250ml fresh cream¾ -1 cup of crushed nutsI used what I had - pecans, cashews, almonds, macadamias and pistachio (I blitzed it in my handblender)Gently stir until the mixture is slightly thick - not runny but not too thick eitherPour over the shortbread and then back into the oven for another 6-8 minutesRemove from the oven and cut as desire
