Dry ingredients: ¾ cup (100 gm) flour¼ cup (30gm) cornstarch ½ teaspoon baking powder¼ bicarb of soda2 tablespoon sugar Combine the above & set aside Wet ingredients1 cup (235ml) milk; any kind⅓ cup (80ml) vegetable oil1 large egg1 teaspoon vanilla extractMix the above well together. Then combine both dry & wet ingredients & set aside to rest for 30 minutes.
- Preheat an oven at 120 degrees for 10-15 minutes & then reduce to keep warm & not on a baking temperature.- Preheat your waffle iron & coat with oil using a silicone brush. - Carefully pour enough batter to coat the waffle plate, then close & cook until the sizzling reduces. (Use a small 30ml measuring cup or a small ladle to easily pour the batter). - Place waffles on a baking tray & into warm oven to stay crisp until all waffles are cooked.
INFO & TIPS
Sweet: serve hot with scoops of ice cream & a variety of toppings like nuts, candy, sprinkles & syrups.
Savory: grill with a topping of cheese, mushroom, diced tomatoes, peppers & spring onion. Garnish with salt, pepper & paprika or any of your favorite spice or meats too!
