INGREDIENTS
½ chicken clean and cut¼ cup ghee (Clarified butter)*1 cup oil dhaal*½ cup chana dhaal*½ cup moong dhaal2 medium onions thinly sliced½ dessertspoon salt½ dessertspoon red chillies2 dessertspoons dhana jeeru (cumin)2 dessertspoons red masala (ginger/garlic)½ teaspoon arad (Turmeric)1 teaspoon garam masala3 sticks taj (cinnamon stick)½ teaspoon peppercorn½ teaspoon cloves3~5 elachie1 bunch dhania (coriander) 1 bunch springonions½ bunch mintWash and cut up the greens fine(if you find it too much you can use less) 1 teaspoon whole jeeru (cumin)2 cups oats
METHOD
Soak the 3 dhaals together for a few hours or overnight.Boil until soft,mushy and liquidize.Meanwhile braise onions in ghee (Clarified butter) until light brown.Add chicken with red masala(ginger/garlic) and braise well for about 10 minutes.Add ½ cup water and braise again for few minutes.Add taj, elachie, cloves, peppercorns and all the spices to the chicken.Cook for about 1 ½ hours until meat is cooked off the bones.Debone the chicken using 2 forks.Don't take bones out.Now add the chicken to the liquidized dhaal.Mix well.Boil oats separately in 4 cups water until done.Add to the chicken.Boil everything together on low heat for about ½ hour stirring occasionally.Add the chopped greens to the pot.braise the whole jeeru (cumin) in 1 tablespoon ghee (Clarified butter) and add to pot.Boil on low heat ..Be careful not to boil on high heat as it will scorch.Serve with cut lemons and naans or rolls...Enjoy!!!
