Chicken And Chip Pie / My Recipe

MRS ADMIN ( MASHUDA)'S RECIPES

INGREDIENTS

Dough :

1 1⁄2 cups flour
1 1⁄2 ts baking powder
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
80g butter soften
3⁄4 cup milk / half water and half milk


Filling :
marinade
1⁄2 kilo chicken fillet ( approx 3 pieces fillet ) small cubes
1 teaspoon red chili paste
1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
1⁄4 squeezed lemon
1 teaspoon dhana powder
1 teaspoon jeera powder
pinch haldi
1 tablespoon gorimas bbq spice
2 tablespoon tomato sauce
2 tablespoon mayo
2 tablespoon prego sauce / peri sauce

1 onion finely chopped


white sauce:
2 tablespoon butter
1 full tablespoon flour
water as needed


2 potatoes cut round slices ( fry it )
add salt , vineger and chili powder . set aside .

METHOD

Dough :
In a food processor add dry ingredients add butter and on the machine ,, should be like crumb like texture, now start adding the milk and make a soft dough ( not sticky ) add more milk if necessary ( I did not add any liquids) . if you are not going to use immediately cover in cling and place in fridge .

Filling :

braise onion with butter until translucent add the marinaded chicken ( if you do not marinade chicken its fine ) just add eveything whilst cooking . cook until completely done.

White sauce :
In a small pot add butter allow it to melt , lower heat add the flour and braise it slightly , now start adding milk and whisk at the same time to avoid lumps , add some salt and pepper . should be runny .


Pre Heat oven to 180degrees
Take the dough and cut into half . use the 1 half and roll it out 23cm by 23cm and place in a 2ocm x 20cm oven try or dish . place the chicken filling top white white suace and fried potatoes .
using the other half of the dough roll out cut into strips and place ontop .
brush with eggs garnish with sesame seeds or herbs and bake for 20 to 30 minutes or util done .
remover from oven cover with damp cloth and serve

you can use the same recipe for steak filling as well .

@FIONA - Im really not to sure how it would taste as the dough isnt pastry dough and because there is potatoes inside

JazakAllah for this lovely recipe. Family enjoyed it so much, they want to have it every weekend.. ;)
Want to try with steak next, In Sha Allah.
Do you know how to get the steak super soft and less chewy.. JazakAllah in advance!

IM so glad
you have to add alot of water to the steak and allow it to cook on meduim to low until tender .

also try adding vinegar to the steak and meat tenderizer

@FARZANA - i usually add about 3 to 4 cups water
becomes nice n soft almost litk you can shred

if you wanna add it to the same pie dough thingy
just before you steak it cooked completely
add 2 to 3 tbls soaked sago
( soak sago overnight ) and cook for 5 minutes keep stiring so it doesnt burn

@FARZANA - it softens the steak as well as make it sticky juice .
almost like the peppersteak pies that you buy ready made
