Rec cred: @cookwithme_ruhanaINGREDIENTSBasic Pap-1 cup mielie meal2 cups waterSalt (to taste)Pepper (to taste)60g butter + 1 tablespoon1 cup full cream milk
My Add ins: ½ tin creamstyle sweetcorn, ½ teaspoon ground green chillies, Aromat (a South African Spice) to taste, Pinch garlic paste, Grated gouda cheese.
METHODBasic-1. Mix mielie meal with water in a microwave safe bowl.2. Cook for 5min.3. Remove from microwave. Fluff with a fork.4. In another bowl, warm milk and butter and mix together.5. Pour into mielie meal and mix in.6. Place back in microwave for another 5-10min, or until the liquid has absorbed, without drying the pap out. Check at 5min, mix and put back in if needed, which I usually do. 7. Remove from microwave, checking that it is cooked, soft and not gritty. 8. Season with salt and pepper, adding in the additional 1 tablespoon butter if desired, mix in and serve.
If making the fancier version, use much less salt.Season with Aromat (a South African Spice) to taste, then mix in garlic, chillies, corn & cheese. Mix in whilst hot.
Note: Becareful when removing bowl from micro, will be hot.#cookwithmeruhana#mamataughtmewellrecipes
