1 cup mielie meal2 cups waterSalt (to taste)Pepper (to taste)60g butter + 1 tablespoon1 cup full cream milk½ tin creamstyle sweetcorn, ½ teaspoon ground green chillies, Aromat (a South African Spice) to taste, Pinch garlic paste, Grated gouda cheese.
METHOD1. Mix mielie meal with water in a microwave safe bowl.2. Cook for 5min.3. Remove from microwave. Fluff with a fork.4. In another bowl, warm milk and butter and mix together.5. Pour into mielie meal and mix in.6. Place back in microwave for another 5-10min, or until the liquid has absorbed, without drying the pap out. Check at 5min, mix and put back in if needed, which I usually do. 7. Remove from microwave, checking that it is cooked, soft and not gritty. 8. Season with salt and pepper, adding in the additional 1 tablespoon butter if desired, mix in and serve.9. Season with Aromat (a South African Spice) to taste, then mix in garlic, chillies, corn & cheese. 10. Mix in whilst hot.
