INGREDIENTS
1 cup warm water2 tblspns sugar2½ tspns yeast2 tblspns oil1½ tspns fine salt3 cups all-purpose flour1 egg (brush top)
METHOD
In a mixing bowl, add sugar and water. Stir to dissolve sugar and sprinkle with yeast. Let it set for 5 minutes or until foamy.
Add oil, salt and half of the flour. Stir to combine.
Add remaining flour and knead into a ball.Place in greased bowl. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour. Punch down and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
Pull out and flatten out into a rectangle. Tuck the ends under pinching gently. Place on greased baking sheet (sprinkle sheet with cornmeal). Cover and let it rise for another hour.
Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees. Brush with egg for a harder crust. Give it a few swipes with a serrated knife and bake for 25 minutes.
Taste is absolutely delicious...
