INGREDIENTS
1 & ½ Cups lukewarm water2 & ¼ Teaspoon instant yeast1 Teaspoon salt1 Tablespoon brown sugar1 Tablespoon melted butter - unsalted - if available3 to 4 cups flour
Sprinkles:Coarse salt
Boil mix:½ cup Bicarbonate soda9 cups Water
METHOD
Preheat oven to 204 degrees celciusAdd yeast into Lukewarm water and allow to froth for 3 minutes
Whisk in salt, butter and sugar into the yeast mix.Slowly add in flour and make a soft non sticky dough.roll into a ball and cover - let rest for 10 minutes while you prepare the "boil mix".
Add 9 cups water and bicarb in a pot - bring to boil.
roll out the dough into 22 inch ropes (12 in total) that should be about 55cm.Fold as per pretzel shape.prepare a baking tin for 6 pretzels to be baked at a time.Dip the pretzels into the boil mix and remove with a slotted spoon after 20-30 seconds - not longer.sprinkle rough salt over pretzels.
add to the baking tray and bake 12-15 minutes until golden brown.Surprise the family and enjoy .
