INGREDIENTS
Dough 1 lg egg½ cup oil 1 cup fresh Milk 4 cup flour
Dough separator 2 cup flour + 2 tablespoon. Flour
Filling2 cup nuts, chopped up 150g butter, Melted
Syrup 5 cup white sugar 3 cup water 1 tablespoon. Lime juice
METHOD
Dough In a bowl add egg, oil, milk, and 3 cup flour and mix when the dough starts to form add the remaining 1 cup flour little at a time and knead well till it forms a soft dough. Cover and set a side for 15 minutes.Divide the dough into 3. Take each piece of dough and divide them into 16 small balls. Divide 1 portions at a time.Roll the dough on a floured surface. Roll into small rotti size and flour them using the corn flour + flour (dough separations recipe) continue rolling and stacking till all 16 ball are rolled and stacked and now roll the stacked dough into a giant rotti or to the size of the tray. Place the filling pastry on the tray and sprinkles ½ the nut + Butter mixture and repeat the process.When all the filling pastry is Laid cut into small squares or diamond shape.Bake @ 175c for 50 to 55 minutes or until golden brown.
Filling Mix the nuts and butter together
SYRUPIn a pan add all ingredients and bring to a boil and let it ½ in volume.
Once the baklava is baklava let it rest for 10 minutes and then pour the syrup and let the baklava observe the syrup. Preferably let it sit over night. Enjoy
NOTE: if you don't want to make the filling pastry you can use store bought ones
