INGREDIENTS
Chicken pieces (I used thighs)
1 egg2 TB milkDried thyme, oregano OR herbs of your choicePaprika powder
Lemon pepper spiceOrange pepper spiceBlack pepper powderSalt to taste
Self raising flour (about a cup)
Chili sauce store bought or home-madeILLOVO Caramel OR Maple syrup
METHOD
Beat the egg with the milk and season with the herbs and spices. Set aside
Take the self-raising flour and add the lemon pepper,orange pepper,salt and black pepper. Mix well.
Dip the chicken pieces in the beaten egg and milk mixture,followed by the seasoned flour mixture. Set in the fridge for 10 minutes before frying.
Heat oil and fry the chicken pieces until cooked through and golden brown.
For the glaze:
In a saucepan (you can use the same one that you fried the chicken), add the ILLOVO Caramel or Maple syrup,followed by the chilli sauce.
Heat through until thick and well combined.
Brush over the chicken pieces and enjoy,this is really delicious!
INFO & TIPS
I used dried thyme
I was generous with the spices (and this made a difference)
I used caramel syrup instead of maply syrup
I served this with corn on the cob and spaghetti made in a simple cheese sauce.
