INGREDIENTS
CarrotsLeeksCubed mutton pieces (optional)1 cup of flourSufficient water to make a slurry(for dumplings)Salt and pepper to tasteGinger and garlic pasteWhole peppercorns Pinch of saltOne large onion2 tablespoon oil
METHOD
Wash and dice all vegetables, Alternatively frozen vegetables may be used , while vegetables are draining in colander
Add diced onion with oil into pot Once onions have turned a golden brown, add in ginger garlic paste, along with meat, once meat has browned nicely add in the water, bring this to a boil, then add in your mixed vegetables Once vegetables are partially soft add in salt and pepper along with peppercorns At this stage soup mix may be added in if desired *(this is optional)
Dumplings To make the slurry for dumplings add a cup of flour to a bowl along with a pinch of salt, gradually add in teaspoons of water until you have a slurry (must not be too thick or thin, similar to pancake batter),drop spoonfuls of this into your soupFollowed by a cup of water(Note Dumplings may absorb some of the soup)
Allow to cook until vegetables have cooked through completely , it must be soft and not mushy and dumplings have formed and are holding their shape (Optional to add mushrooms, potatoes to the soup)
