2cups water2tblsp butter Pinch of salt- Bring to a boil- then add2cups flour- Stir vigourously until it forms a ball Knead into a smooth dough - roll out and cut with large size cutter...place a spoonful of filling on one half and cover to other half to make a moon shape...and close over tightly ! Dip in laai (paste made with white flour and water to pancake consistency) coat in bread crumbs and freeze.To serve, fry in deep oil.
CHICKEN AND MUSHROOM MOONSFilling4 pieces chicken fillet cubed1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon Aromat (a South African Spice)1 teaspoon robertsons chicken spice1 teaspoon garlic1 teaspoon grounded chillies 1 teaspoon black pepper powder ½ green pepper cubed 1tin creamstyle corn 1tray mushrooms(cleaned and steamed with salt and pepper)1 tub fresh cream 1 teaspoon flour1 teaspoon knorr pepper sauce1 teaspoon knorr mushroom sauceGrated cheese
Braise chicken in ghee (Clarified butter)- add spices- add green pepper and creamstyle corn-add mushrooms- make a paste with the flour/pepper sauce/mushroom sauce and water and add to the chicken- add freshh cream- when cool add grated cheese! Must be dry and thick!
