INGREDIENTS
1 Tray Mushrooms Sliced
half an onion- diced
2 cloves of garlic - diced
Salt
black pepper
2 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoon flour
1-2 cups of milk
METHOD
Use a medium saucepan on medium heat. Sauté onions in a little butter till transparent and add diced garlic and stir for a few minutes. Add mushrooms and salt and pepper to taste. Drop heat and let cook for a few minutes. It needs to sweat out but not completely there needs to be some stock left over. Once mushrooms are cooked empty it out into a bowl.
In the same saucepan add your butter and let melt then add your flour and mix. Season with salt and pepper (I even add a pinch of dried parsley) thereafter add milk and mix. Once butter lumps are dissolved and sauce starts to thicken add your mushroom mixture and stir.
INFO & TIPS
I use a basic white sauce recipe and it's great for pasta dishes as well.
U can even use half cup of cream and just reduce the milk.
It's a great simple recipe that's extremely versatile.
