INGREDIENTS
Chips:3-4 Potatoes cut into chips and fried (can use frozen chips, if making homemade can microwave or boil a little to soften for a soft crispy chip when frying)Aromat (a South African Spice) /salt
Cheesy Garlic Thyme Sauce:2 tablespoon oil1 Clove garlic chopped1 tablespoon dried thyme11/2 cup milk3 tablespoon flourSalt & ground black pepper to taste ½ - 1 Cup grated cheese of choice (I used gouda)
Tawa Toast:Fresh bread of choiceMargarine or butter
Cheesy Onion Parathas:4-6 RotisGrated gouda cheese/mozzarella/cheddarOnion cut in slicesChopped green pepperAromat (a South African Spice)/Salt & ground black pepper to taste
METHOD
Cheesy Garlic Thyme Chips:- Fry chips and sprinkle with Aromat (a South African Spice)/salt, keep in oven on low to keep warm and crispy- For the sauce, heat the garlic and thyme in the oil, be careful not to burn garlic, just heat it to release the thyme and garlic flavour, remove from heat. - To the garlic thyme oil add the milk, cake flour, salt & pepper and return to heat. - Whisk sauce till thick (not too thick)- Turn off heat and whisk in the cheese to melt- Pour over the chips- Serve with tawa toast/plain bread, roti, puri- Can also saute chicken or steak or polony/viennas and add to chips - Enjoy :)
Tawa Toast:- Using fresh bread, spread butter or margarine on both sides and fry/heat on a tawa- Can be eaten with anything of choice, can also have for breakfast or brunch with eggs etc. Or simply spread jam on and enjoy. The kids love this to nibble on.
Cheesy Onion Parathas:- On one of the Rotis fill with cheese, sprinkle on sliced onion and green peppers, sprinkle on some salt/Aromat (a South African Spice) & black pepper - Cover with second roti- On a heated tawa fry the paratha till slightly crispy on both sides- Cut into 4, serve with sauces and chips- Enjoy :)- Can add anything else like chicken etc, chillie, stirfry etc. for various yummy options.
