Recipe by Zakia Haffejee on sunnyside classics FB group I adapted the custard from 2 tbl custard to 6 as it asked for 2 eggs in the custard & i didn't have eggs on hand
INGREDIENTS
Cake/biscuit
125g butter.1⁄2 cup sugar.2 eggs.1⁄4 cup milk.1 teaspoon vanilla essence.2 teaspoon baking powder.Pinch of salt.flour. (I used 3 cups of flour as recipe wasn't specific)
Custard5 cups of milk or 1 litre+-1 cup sugar2 tablsp maziena, 6 tablsp custard powder 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
METHOD
Biscuit/cakeBeat butter and sugar till creamy add eggs beat well add milk mix til combined well add dry ingredients and make a soft pliable dough Roll out 6 wafers and bake at 180c 10 minutes each.
Custardmix maizena (corn flour) and custard powder into 1 cup of milkAdd the rest of the milk to your pot bring to a boil than+-1 cup sugar bring to a boil than add 2 tablsp maziena, 6 tablsp custard and vanilla essenceBoil on low till thick
Divide custard and colour with a few drops of colouring.
Layer wafers on top of one another with custard in between place in fridge to set once set decorate as desired

Alhamdulillah Easiest dough recipe I found as others without the milk added in kept breaking. Once hot custard is poured over and it's left to set biscuit will soften to a cake like consistency
