RECIPE
-1 & ½ chickens cut, washed & drained.
-½ cup @maseeharice fried onions
-3 potatoes peeled, cut in half & fried till halfway done. I steamed in microwave
2 & ½ cups @maseeharice basmati rice 🍚 boiled. Must be firm. About 7 minutes.
Steep ½ teaspoon saffron and ¼ teaspoon orange powder colouring in boiling water
In a pot drizzle oil and add:
3 cinnamon sticks3 cloves3 cardamom2 tomatoes liquidised ½ cup fried onions3 tablespoons @sujees_gourmet_food tandoori masala2 tablespoons tomato paste1 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons coriander powder1 teaspoon cumin powder1 teaspoons fine red chilli powder½ teaspoon tumeric½ cup lemon juice 3-4 tablespoons double cream yogurt 1 teaspoon @shanspicesa tandoori masala
½ teaspoon saffron and colouring soaked in ¼ cup boiling water. (Add only ½ to meat mixture keep other ½ for rice)
½ cup @mccain_sa frozen peas
Mix well. Add more lemon 🍋 juice if necessaryIn the boiled rice add, some frozen peas and a handful of fried onions. Add the saffron water & mix. Set aside.
Set meat at the bottom and some of your potatoes. Put rice over meat. Then few potatoes.
Steam biryani 40 minutes on high, 20 minutes on medium and 30 minutes on low heat. Add a little water for steaming. To see if biryani is done put the back of a spoon in the centre of pot. See if all water has dried out.
