INGREDIENTS
β’ 250g Butterβ’ 1 cup Sugarβ’ 3 Eggsβ’ 1 teaspoon vanilla essence β’ ΒΌ teaspoon saltβ’ Β½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice*β’ 3 teaspoon orange rindβ’ 2 cups flourβ’ 2 teaspoon baking powderβ’ 1 Β½ tablespoon Poppy seeds
Syrupβ’ Β½ cup sugar β’ Β½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
METHOD
Cream butter & sugar together.Add in eggs 1 at a time with vanilla essence. Beat well together. Add in orange rind. Add in sifted flour, salt, baking powder & poppy seeds. Lastly add in orange juice. Fold well together.
Bake on 180Β° for +- 30 to 45min
Turn out & poke holes into the cake using a skewer.
Bring syrup to a boil, add in some grated rind & pour hot syrup over hot cake.

* Grate the rind of the orange 1st before squeezing the oranges.
