250g Butter1 cup Sugar3 Eggs1 teaspoon vanilla essence ¼ teaspoon salt½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice*3 teaspoon orange rind2 cups flour2 teaspoon baking powder1 ½ tablespoon Poppy seeds Syrup½ cup sugar ½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
Cream butter & sugar together.Add in eggs 1 at a time with vanilla essence. Beat well together. Add in orange rind. Add in sifted flour, salt, baking powder & poppy seeds. Lastly add in orange juice. Fold well together. Bake on 180° for +- 30 to 45min Turn out & poke holes into the cake using a skewer. Bring syrup to a boil, add in some grated rind & pour hot syrup over hot cake.
