INGREDIENTS
250g Butter1 cup Sugar3 Eggs1 teaspoon vanilla essence ΒΌ teaspoon saltΒ½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice*3 teaspoon orange rind2 cups flour2 teaspoon baking powder1 Β½ tablespoon Poppy seeds
SyrupΒ½ cup sugar Β½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
METHOD
Cream butter & sugar together.Add in eggs 1 at a time with vanilla essence. Beat well together. Add in orange rind. Add in sifted flour, salt, baking powder & poppy seeds. Lastly add in orange juice. Fold well together.
Bake on 180Β° for +- 30 to 45min
Turn out & poke holes into the cake using a skewer.
Bring syrup to a boil, add in some grated rind & pour hot syrup over hot cake.

* Grate the rind of the orange 1st before squeezing the oranges.
