INGREDIENTS
500g dates 3 tablespoon ghee (Clarified butter)250g ground almonds and pistachios 3 tablespoon freshly ground coconut ⅓ teaspoon Elachi (cardomom) powder 1 tablespoon sesame seeds Few strands saffron
METHOD
Pit dates and grind in a mixer.(I chopped mine) Mix almonds and coconut. Heat ghee (Clarified butter) and braise sesame seeds and then add dates. Simmer on low until dates have softened and are shiny. Stir in Elachi (cardomom) and saffron. Flatten in a casserole. Sprinkle slivered almonds over.Cut into squares and allow to cool. Store in an airtight container.
INFO & TIPS
I braised the sesame seeds and nuts in ghee.
I didn’t add saffron.
I didn’t have fresh coconut so used desiccated coconut to sprinkle over the top.
