My Marhooma Daadi
INGREDIENTS
4 ½ cups flour 1 packet dry yeast (I use the anchor one)2 ½ teaspoon salt¼ cup white sugarLukewarm water (to bind dough)
Potato filling: 2-3 medium potatoes cooked in little ghee (Clarified butter), red ginger garlic masala, salt, dhana Jeeru (Cumin), little arad (Turmeric), steamed with water till done & garnished with dhana. Once cooked allow to cool before filling vetkoek.
METHOD
Mix all ingredients together & bind vetkoek dough with lukewarm water. Cover dough. Allow to rise for an hour in a warm area.
Once risen, grease a tray & oil your hand well to handle dough easily. Take a piece or dough, flatten it out in your hand and put some potato filling in the centre. Pinch dough all round to seal & form a ball. Then fry on medium heat till golden brown all round. Drain oil on a paper towel & enjoy.
INFO & TIPS
You may serve with your favourite chutney.
