INGREDIENTS
2 cups basmati rice ½ cup Masoor (Back lentils) 2 tomatoes grated 2 onion2 green chillies 3 potatoes 1 teaspoon Chilli flakes Sprigs of thyme, curry leaf, mint and dhania (coriander) 4 tablspoons Masala 2 teaspoons of dhania (coriander) jeers1 teaspoon turmeric 1 tablespoon briyani Masala Salt to taste 1 cup sour milk 1 cup gadra beansChopped veg :CarrotsGreen Beans Cabbage Butter or rama
METHOD
Soak riceBoil Masoor (Back lentils)Fry potatoes Fry 1 onion for garnish Braised with briyani spice (seeds)Add thyme and curry leaf Add onions and chilliesAdd masalasAdd tomatoes Add carrots, gadra beans and greenbeans - let this steam for a little bit then add cabbage Once the veggies are soft, add your rice and massoor.Add some butter, chopped mint, dhania (coriander) & thyme and give it a good mixPut it in the oven at 180 for 40 minutes Then add potatoes, mint, fried onions and more butterPut the oven off and leave your pot in the oven.
Best served with pickle & dhal
INFO & TIPS
You can steam your gadra beans in the microwave for 5 minutes before adding it to the pot.
