Ingredients:
250 g butter (softened)
1 cup icing sugar
½ cup oil
¾ cup cornflour
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
± 3 cups flour (as needed)
1–2 tablespoon cocoa powder (for half the dough) I used dark cocoa powder
Sugar (for coating)
Melted chocolate (for dipping ends)
---
Method:
1. In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and icing sugar until light and creamy.
2. Add in the cornflour, oil, and vanilla essence. Mix well.
3. Gradually add the flour to form a soft, smooth dough (you may need slightly more or less).
4. Divide the dough into two portions. Add cocoa powder to one half and mix until combined.
5. Roll small pieces from each dough into log shapes.
6. Place one plain and one chocolate piece side by side, press the ends together, and shape into a leaf.
7. Roll the top in sugar, then use a knife to make light lines on each side for a leaf pattern.
8. Place on a lined tray and bake at 180°C until lightly golden.
9. Once cool, dip the ends in melted chocolate and let set.
