INGREDIENTS
250 grams whole wheat macaroni
250 grams of hot water
1 tablespoon ghee (Clarified butter) or butter
1 sachet Knorr Three Cheese Pasta Sauce
250 grams of finely grated yellow cheddar or gouda, divided
METHOD
Boil the macaroni in salted water until al dente. Drain, reserving 250 grams of the macaroni water, and gently toss with 1 tablespoon of butter. Place in an appropriately sized pyrex.
While the water is still hot, add the Knorr cheese sauce. Mix vigorously with a fork until completely dissolved. Then add 125 grams of the cheese to the sauce, mixing until the cheese is melted.
Pour the sauce over the macaroni and mix until completely combined. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top of the macaroni. Place under the grill until cheese is completely melted.
Cut into squares and serve while still warm.
INFO & TIPS
This recipe is called 250 because that's the only number you need to remember: 250 of pasta, 250 of water, and 250 of cheese.
If you're using a white macaroni, increase the amount to about 300 grams. Whole wheat macaroni is a little more dry even when fully cooked and it soaks up more sauce than its white counterpart.
