1 cup boiling water1 and quarter cup chopped dates1 teaspoon bicarbPour boiling water over chopped dates and bicarb and leave aside for 15 minutes
125g butter1 cup castor sugarCream well togetherAdd 2 eggs1 and half cups flour1 teaspoon baking powderHalf cup chopped pecan nutsAdd date mixture and mix wellAdd to greased pan.bake at 180 for approx 45 minutesFUDGE TOPPING:1 cup dark brown sugar1 cup fresh cream2 tablespoon butterCook on medium heat for 6-8 minutesPour topping over cake and sprinkle top with nuts.
