Preheat the oven to 180degC.2. Cream butter & sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. 3. Next add in eggs one at a time, beating well between each addition.4. Mix in buttermilk. 5. Sift in flour, baking powder and salt, and beat in.6. Pour the batter into large greased pyrex dish. 7. Bake the cake for 50minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean. 8. Allow it to cool for 5 minutes then cut into slices.9. Switch oven on grill, then once properly heated, switch to 180degC.10. Place slices in oven and allow to brown on either side. Then switch off & allow to crisp up.
