RECIPE

250g butter1 teaspoon salt 4 cups cake flour 5 teaspoons baking powder 1 egg250ml buttermilk/fresh cream/maas(1 cup)1 cup brown sugar/white sugar
Preheat oven to 180 degrees C
Mixture 1: Rub the butter, salt, cake flour and baking powder together to resemble bread crumbs Mixture 2: Beat the egg, buttermilk and sugar together.Combine mixtures 1 and 2 to make the dough Pat the dough into a greased +- 35cm x25cm oven panBake at 170 degrees C for +- 35 minutes till well risenRemove from the oven and cut into slicesBake slices at 100 degrees C for approximately 1 hour turning rusks halfway through to ensure crispness
