INGREDIENTS
4 cups flour – sifted3 teaspoon crushed fennel seeds 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder1 packet instant yeast1 teaspoon salt3 tablespoons sugar ⅓ cup melted butter 2 tablespoons oil1 egg½ cup warm milk⅓ cup plain yoghurtEnough warm water to form a soft dough
METHOD
1.Place all the dry ingredients in a bowl, mix them all together2.Place butter, yoghurt, eggs, oil and milk in a separate bowl and whisk it together, add this mixture to the dry ingredients and mix in3.Use enough warm water to make a soft and firm dough. 4.Turn out on to a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes5.Place in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with cling wrap and leave it to proof for an hour – 90mins or until double in size6.Punch down and roll into a log, cut equal size (10-12) pieces and roll into bun shapes. 7.Cover and leave to rise for another 30 minutes 8.Egg wash and sprinkle with poppy seeds and bake at 180 degrees for 15 minutes or until done9.Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter immediately.
