Every region 🇵🇹 has their own recipe this is my family's tweaked from the traditional one
Bismillah Ar Rahman Ar Rahim
1 onion2 tomatoes1 tablespoon of crushed garlic2 tablesoons olive oil2 potatoes4 pieces of hake or any firm boneless white fish¼ teasoon turmeric2 teaspoons cayenne pepper2 bay leaves1 cinnamon stick1 teaspoon salt2 sprigs of parsley1 tablesoon of lemon juice
Chop tomatoes and onion fine in a food processor or blender. Fry garlic in olive oil until fragrant Add cinnamon stick and bay leaves add tomato onion mixture cook for 5 minutes. Peel and cut potatoes in rounds add to pot stir in 2 cups of boiled water. Mix in salt & cayenne pepper. Cook until potatoes are done..Mix in fish & parsley once at boiling point (5min) switch off stove and allow to steam. Alhamdulillah all done 🍽 Serve with milho (Portuguese mielie meal), rice or crusty bread
