RECIPE
Heat together1 cup milk2 tea bags
In a bowl add:1 cup chopped datesSprinkle over ¾ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda Add hot tea milk and let sit 10 minutes.Blend to a paste
Beat together½ cup butter½ cup brown sugarAdd in 2 eggs and beat
Add in 1 teaspoon vanilla Date paste
Then add1 ⅓ cup flour¼ teaspoon cardamom powder 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder 1 heap teaspoon baking powder¾ teaspoon salt
Mix with a spatula until combined.Pour into a lined and greased tin.Bake 180 ° 35 - 40 minutes
Poke holes over cake Pour chai toffee sauce over. Reserve a little for serving
Chai toffee sauce:Boil together2 tea bags¾ cup milkBring to a boil then set aside for 10 minutes to infuse.
Remove tea bags and add in3 tablespoon butter 2 tablespoon milk powder⅔ cup brown sugar ¼ teaspoon saltBring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
To Serve Heat cake for 10 seconds in microwave. Add a scoop.of ice cream.Drizzle sauce over Decorate as desired.I cut flower shapes with dates.
