INGREDIENTS
1 ½ cups rice
1 small onion (or half of a large onion), finely chopped.
⅓ - ½ packet of Shan brand Pilau Biryani mix or Yakhni Pulao mix.
1 cup mixed frozen vegetables
3 cups water
1 teaspoon garlic paste
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1-2 tablespoon of oil
½ teaspoon garam masala
METHOD
If you’re gonna soak the rice, wash and soak from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
In medium/high heat, heat the oil in the pot or pan in which you’ll be making your rice. Fry the onions until brown, stirring occasionally.
Add the Shan masala mix, garam masala, and ginger and garlic pastes. Fry for a couple of minutes stirring frequently.
Add rice, water and frozen vegetables, stir, cover, and wait for pot to boil. Once it’s boiling, stir again, cover and reduce heat to low.
Set your timer for 20 minutes Check if it’s done, turn heat off, and give one final stir to mix the rice with the vegetables.
Garnish with cilantro, onion, or chilli pepper. Enjoy with your favorite curry dish!
