INGREDIENTS
FALAFEL:
1 tin chickpeas
1 onion, chopped
Green masala
½ teaspoon crushed garlic
5 tablespoon fresh white breadcrumbs
1 egg, beaten
Chopped dhania (coriander)/parsley
½ teaspoon dhana jeeru (cumin)
½ teaspoon baking powder
Salt/pepper to taste
Blend all ingredients together with a stick blender or in a food processor. Form balls with an icecream scoop. Deep fry for 3-5 until golden and crispy or alternatively shallow fry for 7-10 minutes, turning to brown on each side. Drain on paper towels.
HUMMUS:
1 tin chickpeas
3 tablespoon tahini paste
¼ cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon crushed garlic
¼ cup olive oil
Salt/pepper to taste
Blend all ingredients together until smooth.
METHOD
Serve hummus and falafels with pita bread.
