1 chicken cut into 8 or more , washed 1 teaspoon ginger 1 teaspoon garlic 1 teaspoon red chilli paste ½ teaspoon ground green chilli 2 sticks cinnamon 3 Elachi (cardomom) pods 3 peppercorn 3 cloves 1 onion finely sliced / chopped Oil 2 teaspoon dhana powder ½ teaspoon jeera powder ½ teaspoon haldi Salt Red chilli powder 5 tomatoes grated / liquidized Water Potatoes peeled and cut Handful chopped dhania (coriander)
In a pot add oil / ghee (Clarified butter) , add the onions with all the wholes spices and braise in medium heat . Let the onions brown slightly , add the ginger garlic and masalas , braise until you can smell the aroma , add chicken as well as all the remaining spices and mix well . Lower the heat add potatoes as well so this can soften with the chicken or fry the potatoes separately and add last .. Allow chicken to cook until almost done add the tomatoes and allow all the tomato water to dry out , add some water and allow this to cook for abit , garnish with dhania (coriander) , serve with roti or rice .
