INGREDIENTS
2 Cups Tastic Rice
2 ½ cups sugar
2 tablespoon ghee (Clarified butter)
½ teaspoon lemon juice
½ cup mango and orange juice (Liqui fruit)
1 tin crushed pineapple (drain water)
½ cup prunes or white sultanas
3 Elachi (cardomom) pods
2 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon saffron
Egg yellow colouring
METHOD
Boil the rice in water coloured with egg yellow colouring for +/- an hour or more (till done). Drain and set aside.
Mix the juice, pineapple and sugar and bring to a boil. Add to rice.
Heat the ghee (Clarified butter), add prunes/sultanas, cinnamon, cloves, Elachi (cardomom), saffron and braise. Add to rice.
Steam in a pot on low heat for 40-45 minutes.
Serve garnished with slivered almonds/pistas.
