🥔 Mashed Potatoes• 3–4 potatoes, boiled• Butter & milk, to tasteMash until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
🧀 Extra• 1½ cups grated mozzarella cheese
🥩 Curried Steak Filling• 500g cubed steak• 1 onion, chopped• 1½ teaspoon ginger & garlic paste• Juice of 1 lemon• Salt, to taste• ¼ teaspoon turmeric• 1 teaspoon coriander powder• 1 teaspoon cumin powder• 1 teaspoon red chilli powder• 1 large tomato, chopped• ¼ cup sago, soaked until swollen• 1 teaspoon black pepper• 1 teaspoon Six Gun Grill seasoning• ½ teaspoon chilli beef Aromat (a South African Spice)
Heat oil and fry onion until golden.Add ginger & garlic paste and sauté until fragrant.Add lemon juice, salt, turmeric, coriander, cumin, chilli powder and tomato.Add a little water and cook until the steak is soft and the gravy thickens.Stir in soaked sago and cook on low heat.Finish with black pepper, Six Gun Grill seasoning and chilli beef Aromat (a South African Spice).
🥧 Assemble• Pour steak filling into an ovenproof dish• Spread mashed potatoes evenly on top• Sprinkle with grated mozzarella
Roll out puff pastry to fit the dish. (I used the pick and pay brand of puff pastry, it is light and crispy... I won't be using another brand again...it is 👌)
Seal edges, brush with beaten egg and bake at 180°C until golden and puffed.
✨ Can also be made in individual foil containers and frozen.
