Salaams Nazreen. . I neither use egg nor breadcrumbs. .I fry them plain without any coating.. but some people prefer mixing egg into the mixture before making balls but you can't freeze them and you have to use them the same day you make them..so I avoid egg..hope it helps..

No I wouldn't advice doing that because the recipe has baking powder in it. But what you can do is bake it and pour sauce over. Cover with foil. Stays well in fridge. Re Heat before serving and serve with custard or ice cream. I've done this many times.
