@SHERIEN ESSAKJEE - Wslm. I make this very often and that's never happened so I'm not 100% sure of the cause of the bitterness. I think it might be that the vagaar was burnt as the vagaar ingredients do become very bitter when burnt.

This is really an EXCELLENT recipe! My family and guests thoroughly enjoyed it. However I have to warn u , it has quite a number of different ingredients so make sure u do some shopping before making this... but well worth it!!
Aslmz,wanted to find out after rolling should i leave to rise again on tray and than bake or should i bake straight away after rolling? Jazakallah
I made this on the weekend, froze it and baked it on Thursday it was delicious. I didn't dip the sheets in boiling water just layered them . Baked it for an hour after it was defrosted. My children who are the most fussiest eaters couldn't stop eating it.
